Dundee Mormons Stand Together with Dundee Refugee Support

Dundee Refugee Support urged the people of Dundee, The Lord Provost and local Faith leaders including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to 'Light up the Law' at a special gathering to highlight the plight of those in need of refuge in the current crisis across Europe.

The Law hill is the focal point on the skyline of Dundee and the surrounding area and has long been a beacon of hope and remembrance hosting the city's war memorial. Hundreds gathered to remember those who are once again are risking their lives in hope of a better future. Speeches were given from local community groups, trade unions, charities and faiths. President John Keogh of the Dundee Stake Presidency of the Church quoted the President of the Church,  President Thomas S Monson, "You make a living from what you get, You make a life by what you give."

The Dundee Refugee Support Group hopes to provide migrants at France’s Calais port and those in other European countries, including Greece, with much-needed essentials such as footwear, clothing and toiletries.

The group was originally set up to raise money for refugees who are stranded around Europe. However, the original target of £2000 has been exceeded and the group has become one of the nation’s largest collection points for the refugee appeal. Dundee Refugee Support encouraged the community to make a donation of supplies including tents and sleeping bags and to volunteer some time to help sort and pack for such a worthy cause. The Dundee Refugee Support Group want to share a message of hope for those in need and prompt others to do the same in areas all over Europe.
