92 year old war veteran receives Legion D'Honneur

92 year old member Bob Crawford from the Cavehill congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Belfast has been awarded France's highest decoration, the Legion D'Honneur.

Bob Crawford's medal came with an accompanying letter stating that he had been appointed to the rank of Chevalier in the Ordre National de la Legion D'Honneur in acknowledgement of his military engagement and steadfast involvement in the liberation of France in WW2.

In 2010 Bob travelled back to Normandy where he had served during the war. His visit to the Ranville war cemetery there was a very moving experience for him as he remembered those who had not returned home.

Bob Crawford proudly wore his medals at the Sunday session of the Belfast area conference held on Sunday 8th November.
