Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, a Member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, presented four specially-bound copies of the Book of Mormon to senior government leaders at the UK Parliament (21 November).

During a recent visit to London, Elder Holland, accompanied by his wife Sister Patricia T. Holland, donated the scriptures in meetings with British Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Theresa May; House of Commons Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP; Principal Clerk of the Table Office, Philippa Helme; and Hannah Russell, Head of Operations and Engagement at the House of Commons. Each exclusively-crafted volume was commissioned by the First Presidency, the Church’s most senior governing body.
The presentations were attended by Stephen Kerr MP and his wife Yvonne Kerr, and Elder Alan T. Phillips, a senior leader for the Church in Europe. David Rutley MP also joined the meeting with the Prime Minister.
On receiving his gift of the Book of Mormon, Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP responded, “It’s beautiful!”
Philippa Helme, Principal Clerk of the House of Commons Table Office, expressed her gratitude for the recent gift and explained that the edition of the Book of Mormon that they currently have “is a little elderly.”
House of Commons Head of Operations and Engagement, Hannah Russell, thanked Elder and Sister Holland, “It’s a great honour to receive it on behalf of the House of Commons. It’s very kind of you to visit us on your visit to London.”
The Book of Mormon, subtitled ‘Another Testament of Jesus Christ’, is regarded by Latter-day Saints as a volume of sacred text that supports Biblical Christianity and proclaims Christ’s divinity.
