Bay TV's 'Faith Matters' programme Features Liverpool Church Members

Recently, Liverpool’s Bay TV, a community television channel, sent their ‘Faith Matters’ documentary team to interview Bishop David Hoare, leader of the Liverpool congregation, Janet Gifford, a Public Affairs Specialist and Mark Harrison Jnr, a member of the Crosby congregation at the Church meeting house in Liverpool.

The presenter was Keith Hitchman and he posed questions concerning the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the role of women within the Church, the health code, missionary work and many other topics. The main objective of this one hour programme was to give viewers a better understanding of the Church, it’s beliefs and practices, and dispel some of the myths that might exist. Mark Harrison was asked about the Church’s stance on not drinking alcohol, tea and coffee and not using tobacco, he said, “I have never used any of these substances. My friends have always been respectful of my beliefs and their observations of my behaviour led to some very interesting discussions about the gospel of Jesus Christ”.

Janet Gifford was able to talk about the long history of the Relief Society and explain that it is the oldest women’s organisation in the world with millions of members across the globe.

In a light-hearted moment, the presenter, Keith Hitchman enquired about the famous Osmond family and asked if some of them had attended Church in Liverpool.
