Coventry Christmas Concert for Community Charities

The annual charity Christmas Carol Concert, organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Coventry, was a great success and will bring cheer to a large number of local children. Attendees included the Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Lindsley Harvard as well as Mr Jim Cunningham, MP for Coventry South and Nigel Lee, President Elect of The Rotary Club of Coventry Phoenix.

In addition to sharing the story of the Saviour's birth, taken from the New Testament, and the singing of Christmas Carols, the concert allowed those attending to provide much needed gifts for under-privileged local children. Attendees generously donated toys, books and other gifts, which will be distributed by Rotary to local children.

The congregational singing was complemented by a number of special musical items performed by choirs and groups, including music from some very brave young children.

The Lord Mayor spoke about Christmas being a very special time of year and Mr Cunningham reflected on The Spirit of Christmas.

Jonathan Maxwell, the leader of the Church in the Coventry area expressed his gratitude for the generosity shown by so many people, he said, “We are very grateful to work with our friends from Rotary to help children in our community”. He added, “The leaders of the Church have invited  members around the world to do a small act of service for another person on each of the 25 days leading up to Christmas. This will help to spread joy and happiness as we remember the birth of Jesus Christ and think about the way that He served people during His life.”
