Rome Temple Site Office Trailers Donated to Community

With the Rome Temple progressing toward completion, the trailers that hosted the offices of the construction site personnel are no longer needed. Managers and support staff recently moved into one of the already completed buildings – the patron housing.

Needing to clear the interested area to allow for construction to proceed, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints decided to donate the well-kept trailers to the community. The three selected recipients are the Italian Red Cross, the local Municipality, and the City of Borbona.

The Rome Chapter of the Italian Red Cross received two trailers which will be used to coordinate their operations in support of refugees. The local municipality received another two trailers, one of which will be used for the field operations of the Civil Protection Services while the other will be used for the coordination of the emergency trash disposal services. The 20 remaining trailers will be used by the City of Borbona to house city offices and activities displaced by a destructive earthquake that killed 299 people, injured 388, and left 4,500 people without a place to live in.

Elder Alessandro Dini-Ciacci, Area Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, described the removal of these office trailers as “yet another major milestone in the progress of the construction of the Rome temple.” With regard to the future use of these trailers, he noted that donating them to the community is in keeping with the Church’ constant desire to give heed to the admonition given by the Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Corinthians: “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal” (1 Corinthians 13:1).

Elder Dini-Ciacci also took this opportunity to invite members of the Church and all men and women of good will to find their own personal daily opportunities to serve one another within their own communities.
